On March 25th, the semiconductor assembly facility of Micron Technology Inc, a Fortune 500 company and Powertech of Taiwan was officially completed and put into operation. The $250 million project was the fourth such investment of Micron in Xi'an High-tech zone. Since Micron set foot in this zone ten years ago, it has made a total investment of 1$ billion. Vice Governor of Shaanxi Mr. Zhang Daohong attended the opening ceremony of the facility and had an official meeting with vice president of Micron Brian M. Shirley and Board of Chairman of Powertech Cai Dugong.
Micron Technology Inc. is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of semiconductor memories and image products. Powertech Technology is a globally famous semiconductor solution provider with advanced technologies in packaging and testing. When this facility goes into full operation, its weekly production of semiconductors will reach 30 million, Solid State Drive production reaching 600,000 and chips testing production further increased to 50 million per week. Then Miron Xi’an’s semiconductor production will account for over 97% of its world’s total.
Deputy Secretary General of Shaanxi Provincial Government Xu Chunhua, Deputy Director General of Shaanxi Provincial Commerce Department Wang Guolong, Chief Economic Manager of Shaanxi Provincial Industry and Information Department Qiang Wei, Deputy Director General of Shaanxi Provincial Foreign Affairs Office Li Anjun, Secretary of the CPC Working Committee of Xi’an High-tech Zone Zhao Hongzhuan and consultant of Xi’an Municipal Government Zhu Zhisheng were also present.
